Culture in the broad sense encompasses virtually all aspects of living. A transformation of values and attitudes is the pre-requisite for changes in the social and cultural sphere and restores the harmony between humanity and nature. To achieve sustainable living, a reflection on the dominant exploitative living mode is indispensable. This applies in particular to the rapidly increasing urban population. PCD sees that education is one key domain so far as moulding values and ideologies are concerned. But efforts will be focused on building informal learning and sharing platforms, which are more appropriate and dynamic for reflection and awareness-raising on critical development issues. Given the predominance of the mainstream marketisation trend, the capacity to exercise cultural diversity and to build connection with nature has become all the more important.
PCD programme foci are as follows:
- Promote learning platforms for sustainable living.
- Promote reflection on mainstream development models and the relationship between urban and rural living.
- Promote reconnection with culture and with nature.
