Yanbian (A), Panzhihua (B) – Under the spirit of mutual help, farmers in HeAi village were encouraged to form into a cooperative. Learning opportunities on eco-agriculture are organized for these farmers to convert conventional farming into eco-friendly practices.

Gong (C) – To address the growing garbage problem in XiaoEr township of Gong county, a waste segregation initiative has been launched. Residents in XiaoEr township are also encouraged to form into environmental volunteer groups to protect local environment. The XiaoEr Central Hospital is mobilized to outreach to rural areas to conduct health education. Capacity building exercises are also conducted to increase awareness of hospital staff about the importance of a client-oriented service.
(2007-09) Training NanMu villagers on eco-health issues. Facilitated them to implement small scale improvements related to eco-health.

TongJiang (D) – Supported a rural community in TongJiang County to improve health related conditions through installation of a water supply system, training of local health care workers and facilitate better communication between health workers from village, township and county level. Besides, after the flood disaster in mid 2007, supports were given to enhance community awareness about potential risks due to environmental degradation.

Xiaojin (E) – To reduce villagers’ dependence on forest firewood, simple energy saving devices such as solar cooking stoves, bio-gas are promoted in XinQiao village. At the same time, villagers were also encouraged to plant trees around their home areas, and in degraded hill slopes. Elderly in Mupo village has also been connected with the local primary school to promote JiaRong Tibetan cultures, paying respect to nature. A new 3rd phase of another 2 years was approved in March 2008.

Pingshang (G) – Training of AnZi villagers on eco-health issues. Local facilitators will acquire better knowledge and skills in carrying out eco-health education, and implement small scale improvement related to eco-health.

Pi County & Chengdu (F) – To aware farmers about the negative effects brought by conventional farming to the rivers, the Chengdu Urban Rivers Association (CURA) promotes eco-agriculture in Anlong village, Pi county. Anlong situates in the middle course of MinJiang River. CURA also facilitates exchanges between Anlong farmers and Chengdu consumers. Mutual support between city consumers and rural farmers is created.

Chengdu (F)  Volunteers recruited from universities are brought to rural areas to learn about eco-agricultural practices. They are also encouraged to experiment urban organic farming. Four small plots of organic farm were established in universities in Chengdu. Exchanges were conducted to allow these volunteers to share their reflections on relationship between human and nature.
